بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
I have decided to rebrand to more accurately reflect the needs of organizations looking to develop cloud-native software. DevOps is no longer enough - only a combination of excellence in software engineering as well as infrastructure management can provide the edge needed to succeed.
I have felt for a long time that concentrating on the field of DevOps was doing myself a disservice. My over-a-decade-long experience as a web developer was not coming into play. My new brand, Cloudership, is an attempt at correcting this. I now represent myself as someone who can write top-notch backend applications, as well as creating and maintaining the infrastructure to run them.
This plays into the growth of serverless computing - now, having knowledge of the various serverless services that exist to support your serverless functions is more important than simply being able to run servers hosting your web application middleware. Specialists in operating systems will become a very niche field, like specialists in virtual machine hypervisors, while those who can write scalable, robust, secure, highly available, cost-efficient, cloud-native applications will become very highly demanded.
